PTSA General Meeting, Thursday, May 21st at 6PM
Our next General Membership Meeting is this Thursday, May 21 at 6pm in the cafeteria. We will be having on elections for the 2015-2016 school year. Below are the current nominees. If you would like to nominate someone for a position you can do so on Thursday evening, Lisa Stoddard, Louise Denkins or Jeannine Colarossi will be present and they were the nominating committee for this year.

Hornsby Middle School 8th Grade Dance

Dear Parents,
On the evening of Friday, May 15, from 7:00-10:00pm, we will have our annual end of the year 8th grade “Cruise Theme” dance here at Lois Hornsby Middle School. Tickets are now on sale for $10 per student and can be purchased through the student’s homeroom teacher.
The 8th grade dance committee is hard at work, and we need your help to make sure the ship will be ready to pull up anchor on May 15. We could use plenty of help decorating after school the evening before the dance on Thursday, May 14. We will also need help the afternoon of the dance on Friday, May 15 beginning at about 1:00 PM.
Below are a few ways you can help ensure we are ready to set sail:
E-mail Erin Schlicher at [email protected] , or Jeannine Colarossi at [email protected] and let us know how you can help make this event special for your Hornsby student! If you drop off donations at HMS please clearly mark it for “PTSA 8th grade dance”.
Dance Attire
As you begin shopping for a dress shirt for your son, or that “perfect dress” for your daughter, please keep in mind that this is a middle school dance. Please err on the side of modesty when selecting your child’s attire. We would like to avoid the awkward situation of asking a child to change into something more appropriate before entering the event. While the typical-day dress code is relaxed for this event, it remains a workable guideline in terms of length, exposure, etc.

The 8th Grade Formal will be held this Friday, May 15 from 7-10pm, and we need your help! Please consider volunteering at the event and/or donating items to help make this event a great experience for our 8th graders!
Dance tickets on sale now during homeroom -- $10 each and includes food & drinks, dancing, and a casino with prizes.
No date required -- groups of friends encouraged!! Please note that ONLY HORNSBY 8TH GRADE STUDENTS may attend the dance.
The theme for this year's dance is "Cruising the Night Away" If you choose to volunteer during the event (time slots beginning at 6pm or ending at 11pm), please come dressed as a "Crew Member". We will be wearing white shirts and navy bottoms (or navy shirts and Khaki or white bottoms).
Thank you for helping to make this a great night for our "soon to be" high-schoolers!

On November 25th, 2014 the PTSA will hold the 5th Annual Hawk Hike, Hornsby Middle School’s fitness-oriented fundraiser. The Hawk Hike consists of a one mile walk/run for all students and staff, as well as interactive stations run by local fitness organizations who will engage our students with demonstrations on proper fitness techniques, choices and exercise.
The Hornsby PTSA is hosting it's first Spirit Week this year at Papa Murphy's at Monticello Marketplace. Download the flyer, print and present it at Papa Murphy's and get a large Signature Pepperoni Pizza for only $5.00 (plus tax).
Papa Murphy's will donate $5 for each pizza ordered (up to $500). The flyer is only valid from November 17 through November 21. Be sure to give the flyer to Papa Murphy's to get credit!
